    FAQ

    Internet call waiting
Can I surf the Internet and talk on the phone at the same time using Catch-A-Call?
No. Catch-A-Call lets you receive incoming calls and faxes while you are on the Internet, but your Internet connection will be lost after a few moments. This is much better than callers getting a busy signal and not being able to reach you at all. At this time, there is no technology, other than DSL or Cable (which cost $50 per month), that allows you to talk on the phone and surf the Internet with only one phone line.

When I take an incoming call and Catch-A-Call places my Internet connection "on hold", will my Internet connection be lost?
Your Internet connection will disconnect after a short length of time, anywhere from 2 to 30 seconds. There is no way to predict just how long you will have before your Internet connection is lost.

What's the difference between Catch-A-Call and Catch-A-Call MAX?
BOTH allow you to receive calls and faxes while you are on the Internet. The difference between the two is that Catch-A-Call MAX will also route incoming fax calls to your fax machine while you are away. If a fax call comes in while you are gone and your answering machine picks up, Catch-A-Call MAX will "listen" for a fax tone. If it detects one, it will automatically route the call to the attached fax machine.

When Catch-A-Call alerts me of an incoming call while I am online, and I choose NOT to take the call, will the caller be forwarded to my answering machine? What about voice mail?
Callers will NOT be forwarded to your answering machine, but they WILL be forwarded to voice mail, if you have that service. Your connection will NOT be lost if you choose not to take the call.

When I get an incoming call while I am online, will Catch-A-Call ring or will my phone ring? Can I answer using ANY phone in the house?
Only Catch-A-Call will ring (and flash a red light). You must answer using the phone that is plugged into the Catch-A-Call. Once you answer the call with that phone, you then can pick up and use any other phone in the house.

Can I use a cordless phone with Catch-A-Call?
    Yes.

Can I pay with a check?
Yes you can. Click here for instructions.

    Is the power adaptor included?
Everything that you need, including the power adaptor and the phone cord, is included in the package.

Why is Catch-A-Call better than an online Internet call forwarding service?
Online call forwarding subscriptions can cost you anywhere from $6 to $12 per month. With Catch-A-Call, you buy it and you own it! There will never be any sort of monthly subscription fees. Some online call forwarding services just transfer the incoming call to voicemail, not allowing you to take the call. With Catch-A-Call, you can always take the call. Catch-A-Call is capable of recognizing and receiving incoming calls and faxes, whereas online call waiting services do not recognize incoming faxes.

Why is Catch-A-Call better than an Internet Answering Machine?
Internet Answering Machines do not allow you to take the incoming call while you are online, they just forward the caller to a voicemail. With Catch-A-Call, you can actually pick up the phone and talk to the caller while you are online.

    Is Catch-A-Call difficult to install?
Not at all. Catch-A-Call plugs in just like a normal telephone does. Simply plug your computer jack, phone jack, and fax jack into the Catch-A-Call and you are ready to go. There is no software to install.

Will Catch-A-Call slow down my connection speed?
    Not at all.

Will Catch-A-Call work with AOL or WebTV? What about a Mac computer?
Catch-A-Call works with ALL computers and ALL operating systems.

Is Catch-A-Call compatible with Caller ID?
Yes it is. If you are subscribed to Call waiting caller ID service (This is different than regular Caller ID), you can attach a Caller ID unit to the Catch-A-Call and see who is calling you, then decide whether or not to take the call. This feature will NOT work with caller ID screens built into the phone. It must be a separate caller ID unit.

What are Catch-A-Call’s dimensions and weight?
    4" x 3" x 1" and weighs a little less than a pound.

Does Catch-A-Call accept incoming faxes as well as phone calls?
    Yes it does.

    HOW IT WORKS

    Internet call waiting
"I’ve been trying to reach you all day, but your phone line is constantly busy!"

With Catch-A-Call, you will never hear complaints like these again. Catch-A-Call allows users to receive incoming phone calls and faxes while they are on the Internet, eliminating the need for a second phone line.

Catch-A-Call uses your telephone company’s call waiting service (call waiting is required) to detect incoming calls while you are online. Catch-A-Call immediately rings and flashes a red light to notify you of the incoming call. If you choose to take the call, simply pick up the telephone plugged into the Catch-A-Call and your Internet connection will automatically be placed "on hold" for a short length of time (anywhere from 2 to 30 seconds). After you are finished with your phone conversation, simply hang up. If your computer has not yet disconnected, you can resume surfing the Internet. If you stayed on the phone long enough to cause your computer to disconnect, simply click the Refresh button on your browser’s tool bar and your computer will dial up again and reconnect to the same Internet page where you left off. It’s that simple! With Catch-A-Call, you can stay connected to the Internet all day long without the worry of missing any calls or faxes.

Here are some of the many benefits of Catch-A-Call:

All you have to do is plug it in! Takes about 2 minutes! No software to install; no complex configurations; no need to open up your computer.

  • Voice Mail compatible
If you have voice mail and you choose not to take the incoming call, it will be routed to your voice mail so that the caller can leave you a message (does NOT route to an answering machine).
