Our longest ranged electronic probe is an extremely reliable driveway alarm that is used to detect vehicles only. The transmitter operates on 4 "1111A" batteries and has 50 feet of direct burial wire connecting the probe to the exterior case. The probe is buried parallel to (not across) the driveway and will detect vehicles passing by within approximately 10-12 feet. The wireless probe driveway alarm is the most reliable driveway alarm we carry and is ideal for locations where there may be deer or other large animals that would cause false signals with other driveway alarms or motion detecting systems. Also, because the probe is buried underground, it will be the least noticeable of all our wireless alert systems. The MURS Alert will give you real time monitoring of remote locations up to four miles away (actual range will vary depending on the local terrain). The MURS Alert has many different applications; it can be used by security guards, small businesses, or home users - any scenario that requires immediate notification when someone or something enters a monitored location. Authorized by the FCC, MURS is a license free service that allows the user to transmit voice and data. MURS also allows communication between the receivers; a maximum of 2 watts of output power. This means greater range than other license free radio services. 30-day money back guarantee! In stock! Same day shipping! NO sales tax! (except WA state) * Although line of site is not required, the maximum range is based on optimal conditions with minimal interference. Wireless range is affected by objects such as walls, trees, etc. Actual range may vary, depending on environment. Average rating is 4.2 By: Michele Coeur d'Alene, IdahoI ordered the 4 mile radius MURS system, with an extra base station and hand held reciever. Excellent product for our purpose. Extremely easy to install (5 min) and works great. We have heavily wooded property and system works in spite of blockage. Only pickes up vehicles, and we have no false alarms due to animals and other interference. I highly recommend this product. We recieved prompt accurate service from gadgetshack and will definately use them for future purchases. 0.3By: gerald harding inglis fl 34449the murs 4 mile unit with probe works great. i am about 950feet from road.i would of liked to have a choice of alert sounds for the unit 0.3By: John Huntsville, TexasI am very pleased with the Driveway Alarm w/ underground Probe. the only thing that I did notice was that the closer to the driveway that you position the wane the better detection you receive. My distance from my transmitter to the house is about a 1/2 mile and I get very good reception at that distance. I am ordering the mobile unit for my ATV to see how it will work. 0.3By: Richard Probst Sequim, WashingtonThe unit works well for what we are using it for. The quality is very good and the setup was reasonably simple. My only comment is that when I moved the sensitivity level from factory settings of 11 o’clock to 12 o’clock, as the instructions recommended, and leaving channel 1 (factory settings, )we picked up the truckers communication on the highway, which is about 1/4 of a mile from the 1st probe and 1/2 mile from the console. We corrected the problem by changing to channel 5 and now the unit works great. No false alarms like we got with the less expensive Dakota probe systems. I would recommend this system if you need something with longer range and more power. 0.3By: Kris SW VirginiaOur alarm is at a distance of about 1300 feet, as the crow flies, with good line of sight from the power line cut. Installation was easy. I thought the probe was strictly a metal detector, but I’m not so sure. With the only metal on me being some tooth fillings and the bases’s sensitivity set in the center, the alert sounds when I get within a couple of feet of the probe. This was while testing the system indoors. I installed the remote components with the same sensitivity setting. That night the alert sounded 4 times. I assume the culprit was a critter of some sort because I checked a couple of times from a spot I can see headlights (where the probe is buried) but saw nothing. After burying the probe and turning down the sensitivity, we have not had any true false alarms where the alert will sound. However, we do get the occassional static squawk at the base station. We may just need to turn down the sensitivity further, but it should be noted that while we live in a very rural area with lots of wildlife, the remote components are installed inside a fence corridor that has pretty low traffic. The quality of the hardware appears to be very good. 0.3We also purchased a MURS handheld radio, which works very well communicating with the base station. We reviewed that product as well, if interested. | ||||
