I tested it outdoors with absolutely no obstructions at approximately 100 feet. It does work in my home but could not place it where I really wanted it. However, because of the extremely bright red light it works just fine. The Mail Alert is in a fairly dark hall way and the light can very easily be seen by anyone just about way place in my home.
