Average rating is 3.5 By: Ron Taylor Carriere MSI use this for my driveway, which is about 50 feet away from my house. The sensor was picking up the road, but I called technical support and they said to point it slightly up my driveway. Works like a charm now! 0.3By: Scott Wallace Fenton, MIEasy to set up and works excellent. 0.3By: Emily Pittsburgh PAMy only qualm with this device is that there is a 4-5 second delay from the point of motion to the alarm sounding. Kind of makes you wonder whether the burglar will already be in your house by the time the alarm sounds! 0.3By: Betty Lincoln East Lyme CtExcellent item - fast shipping - thank you! 0.3By: Tom Van Ausdell Moorpark Ca.Love it. I use them as an early warning device at various locations on my property. Great investment. 0.3By: Jean Parsons Newfoundland & LabradorWe’ve had our alarm for three years now. We have an office in our home and this gives us a heads up when clients are arriving so we can be in the office when they get to the door. It also picks up our large cat. 0.3By: Dan Dimick Ocean Park, WAAn excellent device, long battery life on the remote unit. Great range and easy to set up. 0.3By: Leanne Holton Independence, LA 70443Doesn’t always work. We have trimmed bushes and tried to find what the problem is, but haven’t yet figured it out. It does work most of the time and we are pleased with it when it does. 0.3By: R. Annis Purcell, OKNice USA made product, easy to "set-up", functions well. Con: internal alarm WORTHLESS. Had to add a Radio Shack alarm with transformer. Need to improve alarm or offer as an accessory. 0.3By: Chris Heck Spokane, WaWe are using the driveway alarm for our used car lot, and it is working just great. Easy to set up and use. The only negative so far is there is about a second and a half delay from the time a car passes the monitor to when the alarm sounds, but very minor deal. So far the weather has been good so we are looking forward to seeing how it holds up to winter. Excellent product, would buy another one. 0.3By: S Whitfield Gulfport, MSThis product does not reach 400ft as advertised. We were told that there had been a few problems with the units recently and advised to try another one. Both units were the same, 150ft at best. It’s a great product if your needs are within that range. 0.3By: Kay Meredith McAlpin, FLProduct is exactly what I wanted, works very well and easy to put together. 0.3By: Larry Pattison Van Buren, IN 46991We tried to put the bell or a post that wasn’t 900 feet away and didn’t work so we had to bring it closer to the house It works now but it’s not where we wanted it 0.3By: Nat AlabamaWorks fine when it works. In 5 years we have had 5 sensors fail. 0.3By: Sonja Whitewater, WIThe driveway alarm was easy to set up. It was purchased as a motion sensor for my mother. She lives in a senior living center & has been falling. I purchased 2 boxes. The small boxes are portable & can be placed on the floor in various locations. When my mother gets up the alarm sounds in the nursing station. This alerts the staff that she is moving around the room. They can go in to check on her. 0.3By: Dewey Davis Pataskala, OHThe monitor reacts to motions as advertised. The "beep" of the receiver is not very loud. If you are not in the room with the receiver, you will not hear it. 0.3By: Jim Sowers Georgetown,OhioDrive way alarm works perfectly. 0.3By: Wayne Gladewater, TXUnit works, but is not loud enough to use in a room with any background noise. 0.3By: Jim Andrews Rosharon, TexasExcellent, but finiky about set up. Must be aimed low - at engine level - to be reliable. Rechargable batteries (1.2 volt) provide insuficient power and they will not recharge in the base station anyway. 0.3By: Jasper Bragdon LymanNot as sensitive as I would like. 0.3By: Simon S. Troyer Liverpool, Pa.I was very excited to try my new alarms, however they proved to be about 50% reliable at the most sensitive setting. Also the alarm signal when it did work was not near loud enough. I ended up returning them, Sorry. 0.3By: June Norris Vilas, NCThis is the most accurate alarm ever! The only false alarm is when the battery is low. 0.3What kind of sound does the receiver make when it detects motion? The receiver has a peizo-electric buzzer that signals at about 55 Db How long will the alarm go off once it detects motion? The Receiver will buzz for one second at a time when motion is detected. This cycles every 5-8 seconds as the transmitter detects motion again. Usually, a person walking past the sensor will set it off two or three times, depending on how long they are in its field of view which is 90-degrees. Can I attach a louder alarm? No, the receiver on this product does not have a relay for additional outputs. Is the Intermediate Driveway Alarm battery operated? The Sensor uses 4 AA Batteries. The Receiver can also plug into a wall outlet with a Power Adapter; it has a 4 AA battery backup. Can the Intermediate Driveway Alarm be used outside when it is really hot or cold? The temperature range is from -45 degrees to +125 degrees, though the Infra-Red sensor will work differently at different temperatures. When it's cold outside, the sensor actually works better. When it's hot out, the sensor doesn't detect as much contrast in infra-red, though it still works fine since objects are hotter and easier to detect. How many Sensors can be taught to one Receiver, and how do I know which one is alerting me? Each Receiver can learn the codes for up to four Sensors. It will signal once for the first sensor that is taught to it, and likewise, beep twice, three times, and four times for the second, third, and fourth sensors, respectively. How many Receivers can I have picking up the same Sensors? The intermediate driveway alarm will only support one receiver at a time. If you have multiple receivers only the receiver with "priority" will alert. Is the Sensor Waterproof? The Reporter’s Sensor is waterproof; it also comes with a rain, snow, and sun shield that easily snaps on the top of the sensor for added protection against the elements. What is the range of the sensor and does it sense out in a straight beam? The sensor’s range is about 20-30 feet and cones out 90 degrees from the sensor. This gives the Reporter a much larger field to see objects in motion, unlike a straight beam which can only detect motion if the beam is broken. Can I set it so the Intermediate Driveway Alarm detects small animals? In general, small, fast moving animals are much harder for infra-red motion detectors to detect. While it COULD pick them up, it wouldn't be 100% effective unless they moved by the sensor fairly slowly and you had it mounted less then one foot off the ground. Does the sensor module of your Reporter system contain an RF transmitter and, if so, what is the carrier frequency? The transmitter uses a radio transmitter circuit to send a signal to the Receiver. The transmitter sends an 18 digit code at 315MHz at about one mili-watt. | ||||
